Chapter Message of the Month

As part of a continuing monthly series of Chapter President PULSE Messages, this message appeared in the February 2006 Little Rock Chapter PULSE.

Unleash the Opportunities

At our November 2005 Chapter meeting, we were encouraged to “reach for the impossible”. At our January meeting, we were encouraged to get more involved in our community with literacy, both to adults and children. It is time that we as individuals begin to “Unleash the Opportunities”. I’m convinced that there are no coincidences if life. Every time our life touches someone else life, I believe it meant to happen. What we do with those opportunities is totally up to us. If one member of the Little Rock EWI chapter life was touched and/or changed because of one of our speakers, all our efforts have been worth our involvement and commitment to EWI. That is certainly something I want accomplished as a member of EWI. Our Chapter and Corporate is constantly opening doors for us

to walk through – again, what an individual does with the door is up to the individual. The truth is – our life touches several lives every day whether we realize it or not. Someone is watching our behavior, our demeanor, our generosity, our commitment, our enthusiasm, our passion, our reactions, our actions, our position/negative attitude, our friendliness, our openness, and our loyalty. Life and busyness is robbing us from unleashing the opportunities in our lives. If your heart has been stirred at any of our Chapter meetings, then that is a good thing. Whether it be through the ice breakers, a report or a guest speaker, it is important that we realize when an opportunity comes our way. The sad thing is when we do not recognize these opportunities. One of my goals for 2006 is to connect with someone every day. There are thousands of people that would welcome a connection, a smile or a hug. We can do that! Everyone is equipped with what it takes to connect with those around you or those you come in contact with. Your journey started the day you were born and we only get one shot at life.

I love the involvement in the community that I have been able to participate in since joining EWI. We as professionals have so much to offer those around us and in the community. I would like to encourage you to get involved in community service with our Chapter. We are getting geared up to begin our EWISP Scholarship program for this year. If you are not serving on the EWISP committee and would like to offer your assistance, please contact Lisa Kilby/EWISP Chair.

Is it possible for us to make a difference in someone’s life? Sure it is! BUT-it takes action on our part to either emerge from our comfort zone, take a risk or simply - do something that we are not comfortable doing. This is one characteristic that involvement in EWI accomplishes again and again. I stand amazed at reps who I have witnessed that have grown personally and professionally since their involvement in EWI. Can EWI meet all your needs? Absolutely not! Can EWI meet some of your needs? YES! However, in order to grow personally and professionally, we must get involved the various activities that are offered to us.
I want to encourage you to contact me of one of your board members if you have questions and/or concerns regarding your involvement in EWI. I want to “Thank” all the ladies who have worked so hard to keep this Chapter alive and well for over forty (40) years. What a heritage!

Your ability will take you to the top
Your character will keep you there

Hazel
